Hippocampi Illustration
This project began while I was on a kick of dragon illustrations. Hippocampi are a “sea horse” type of sea monsters found in many mythologies. They have the top half of a horse with the back half of a fish and are the steed of Poseidon and other sea gods.
In the beginning of this project there really wasn’t much direction. This resulted in trying many different layouts, textures, and palettes. I found that I enjoyed the two hippocampi in the below sketch and combined it with the layout and palette of the sketch to the left.
